Thank you for registering your child in the Babysitting Course. An email was also sent to you with these instructions. Please save and/or print it for future reference.
The Course will be held at the Barrhaven Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 3058 Jockvale Road in Nepean. Please click here to view a map of its location. I have had a few participants go to the wrong Church so please review the directions before you head out. Please park at the side of the Church Parking Lot. You can enter the Centre via the back door only.
The Drop-off time is 9:00 am. Please plan to arrive in time to sign in your child and get them ready before the class begins. Pick-up time is 5:00 pm.
Course Instructions
- Your child will need a Life Sized Baby Doll for the class. One can be provided to you if needed. Please let me know via email. Please click here to watch a video with more information.
- Also provide your child with a water bottle, peanut free snack & lunch, blue or black pen, and a highlighter marker.
- Download and print the Babysitting Practical Exercise here. A printed copy of all 3 sheets is needed for the class. This Exercise will be explained during the class.
- Please have your child decorate a box and bring in a few items for a “Babysitting Kit/Kid Kit.” Your child will present their kits to the class (see the following video for ideas). Remember, only a few items are needed.
All students will be given a course manual on the day of the course. If your child would like extra time with reading you can send me an email at karen@basicswithkaren.ca to make arrangements to pick up the manual prior to the course. This is only a suggestion and is not mandatory.
The students will be awarded a Certificate at the completion of the course if they meet the in-class requirements which include class participation and exhibiting mature behaviour required to be a responsible & safe babysitter. They must receive a score of 75% on the test. Cell phones & hats will not be allowed in the classroom.
This class has a few spots left so please share with your family and friends. You can forward this email to them or have them send me an email at karen@basicswithkaren.ca.
Please be cautious of the COVID-19 guidelines for our area. If your child is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or if they have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive, they should not attend the class. Please provide at least at least 48 hours notice so I can offer the course to someone on the Waitlist. You can choose to provide your child with a mask. They are however currently not required.
